2012 Pros –n- Joes
Hi again iWake.com readers! Dano the Mano here with what seems to be a recap of my final contest of the year. The 6th Annual Pro’s n Joe’s happened, once again, in South Florida’s, West Palm Beach at Legendary Okeeheelee Park. This was my second year announcing this unique event that brings some of the top pros and amateur athletes together in a team format. As always the top names in our industry were on hand. Rusty, JD, Steele Lafferty, Josh Palma, Tarah Mikacich, Nick Taylor, Scott Stewart, and former WPB resident Shawn Watson captained the 8 diverse teams. This event was so laid back and fun. There were two teams of just wakeskaters, another of all girls, and then an assortment of top competing AM riders from around the South East region. Some great talent was on hand for sure! Top names from the Nationals and Worlds including, 2012 Jr. Men and Girls champs Justin Lee and Sophie Mendez. Also hanging out showing their support and even riding some demos were Adam Errington, Chase Gregory, Andy Laz, and Cobe “the Mikker” Mikacich. Living Legend Zane Schwenk was on hand as towboat driver numero uno, behind the wheel of Rusty’s brand new MasterCraft X-Star, and official towboat of the Pro’s n Joe’s event. The format put the entire team in the boat all at the same time. Everyone got to ride including the team pro. It was a no pressure atmosphere. When all was all said and done one team did stand just above the rest. Team Steele Lafferty took the win. Justin Lee, Juan Mendez, and Kevin Duffy were stoked to say the least! Jr. Pro shredder Keenan Allen gets some props from me for having solid runs all day and earning the highest score for a single ride that day! Noah Flegel was on hand as well. Once again he competed in both wakeboard and wakeskate. The kid has talent and it’s cool to see him continue growing as an athlete. Aside from the action on the water, there was plenty to do on shore. Music, food, Vita CoCo, and a live exotic animal display were just a few of the things that helped to make Pro’s n Joe’s such a success. I mean what other event offers helicopter rides?!?!? Rishy, Kimber, and the entire South Florida Crew have some positive stuff going on down there. I had a blast announcing and being a part of the South Florida Wake family, I surely look forward to next years event!
